If you’re a current Year 12 student applying to º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ for undergraduate study next year, you could receive an alternative early admission offer under the Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) using criteria other than your ATAR.

If you’re a current Year 12 student, your school can recommend you for admission to the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ in advance of receiving your ATAR results, based on your abilities and success to date. Like your main application to º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, Schools Recommendation Scheme applications are also made through .

If you apply for the SRS, your school’s rating of your aptitudes will be considered, including your capacity for tertiary study. Applying through the SRS doesn’t guarantee you an offer to the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, as course quotas and other criteria still need to be considered.

If successful, you’ll receive an early offer to º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ for your chosen course in November.

To apply for an early offer using the Schools Recommendation Scheme via UAC you must be:

  • completing an Australian Year 12 program or the International Baccalaureate (IB) in Australia in the year you submit your application
  • an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or a holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa.

Are all º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ courses available?

Most º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ undergraduate courses are eligible as part of the SRS, but there are a few that don’t release early offers. Make sure you check our list of SRS-eligible course before applying.

How do I apply?

To apply for the SRS, the first step is to speak with your school careers adviser to find out how your school is managing SRS applications. Each school can choose how they want to use SRS so it’s important you find out about your school’s process, selection criteria and timelines before you start.

Once you have familiarised yourself with your school’s SRS application process, submit your university application through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). You’ll then be able to use your UAC application number to start your SRS application.

gives you detailed instructions on exactly how to apply, what sort of documents you may need and key dates for the UAC part of your SRS application. Your school may provide extra instructions and additional key dates that you also need to meet to be considered for SRS.

When to apply

SRS applications for 2025 are now open with applications closing 16 September.

The first SRS offers are released on 8 November 2024 to eligible students who have º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ as their highest eligible preference.

After you apply

Once you’ve submitted your SRS application, your school will be asked to provide ratings based on your aptitude in different areas and your capacity for study in specific subjects.

After UAC has received your university preferences, your SRS application and all required documentation from you and your school, this information is passed on to the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ and we’ll assess your application as a whole.

If you’re an international student currently completing an Australian Year 12 certificate, the International Baccalaureate (IB) in Australia or the New Zealand NCEA Level 3, you can be considered for the Schools Recommendation Scheme.

After applying for university admission through UAC, you’ll need to contact the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Admissions Office directly and provide us with a letter from your school principal (or delegate) endorsing your aptitude and capacity for tertiary study. You don’t need to apply for the SRS through UAC. 

Can I apply for SRS via Big Picture Education Australia?

If you’re currently studying through Big Picture Education Australia, you’re eligible for the Schools Recommendation Scheme.

After applying through UAC for a university place, you or your school should contact the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Admissions Office directly and provide us with a letter of endorsement from your school principal or delegate, a copy of your high school academic records and a Big Picture National Standards document.

If you don’t receive an early offer for the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ course you’re hoping to start next year, you’ll still be considered for entry based on your ATAR. Once ATARs are released, all course applications are assessed and course offers are sent out in late December.

If you’re successful, you can defer your SRS offer for either six months or one year, depending on your course availability.
