About us


The º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ Research Institute for Sport and Exercise (º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµRISE) is a research and innovation institute bringing together staff from a wide variety of academic disciplines around the theme of sport and exercise.

The Institute supports the University's sporting aspirations through strategic planning and leadership, the co-ordination of sport-related research, consultancy across its faculties and the development of external partnerships.

Fitness assessments

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµRISE provides specialist exercise testing and training services in our state-of-the-art laboratory and environmental chamber.

Heat acclimation predictor

The Heat Acclimation Predictor estimates adaptation within a range of input conditions for the number of days of exposure, exposure duration per day, ambient temperature, and relative humidity.

Falls prevention project

The Falls Prevention Project examines balance, strength and mobility in older adults to better understand the factors that increase fall risk. Participants complete a series of assessments that help inform future prevention strategies.
