Research Ethics and Integrity Office
The Research Ethics and Integrity Office ensures institutional compliance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2025) by providing operational, procedural, and advisory support to the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and researchers.
- Provide administrative and procedural support to the HREC. (Clause 5.1.11)
- Facilitate communication between investigators, HREC, and institutions. (Clause 5.2.15)
- Assist in tracking project approvals, monitoring, and renewals. (Clause 5.2.2(d))
- Advise and support researchers on ethics application preparation, review processes, and compliance obligations. (Clause 5.1.4)
- Coordinate the handling of complaints, concerns, or potential breaches of ethical conduct in collaboration with institutional leadership.. (Clause 5.6.2–5.6.3)
- Ensure accurate record keeping and secure storage of HREC decisions, correspondence, and project documentation.

- Support HREC membership management and operation, including induction, training, and monitoring of quorum and composition requirements. (Clauses 5.1.29–5.1.33)
- Promote ongoing education and awareness of research ethics, integrity, and the National Statement among researchers and HREC members. (Clause 5.1.4 )
- Ensure alignment between institutional policies and National Statement requirements, including review of standard operating procedures. (Clauses 5.1.1–5.1.3)
- Facilitate institutional reporting obligations to the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) or relevant oversight bodies as required. (Clause 5.2.2(c))
