Our Forest Girl

Bullets are ugly. They kill men’s bodies.
But hatred is more ugly.
It kills men’s souls.
We have been growing here a thousand Springs, watching in hurt.
Whilst the wind tells us stories of the long past and the far gone, rustling our leaves.
Ever they come. Ever they fight.
But our girl. Our forest girl. She is not like them. She is good, and sweet, and a part of us.
But she has not seen what we have. She thinks is it possible.
To foil war?
To quench hatred?
Impossible.
But to touch a heart?
