Learning outcomes
After successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:1. Develop a fundamental critical ethical understanding of the media environment in which professional communicators operate;
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of visual and aural storytelling for the communication industry;
3. Develop foundational skills in digital media production for multiple platforms and diverse audiences; and

All assessments should be attempted to be considered to pass this unit.
Students must apply academic integrity in their learning and research activities at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ. This includes submitting authentic and original work for assessments and properly acknowledging any sources used.

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ students have to complete the annually to learn about academic integrity and to understand the consequences of academic integrity breaches (or academic misconduct).
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ uses various strategies and systems, including detection software, to identify potential breaches of academic integrity. Suspected breaches may be investigated, and action can be taken when misconduct is found to have occurred.

Participation requirements
A successful outcome and making the most of this unit necessitates:
- watching and listening to lecture content and other materials
- regular attendance at lectures and workshops and engagement in practical exercises
Required IT skills
Students are expected to be able to access materials on the unit's Canvas site, and use computers in uni labs.
Students will be instructed in the use of image enhancement, audio editing and mixing, and video editing software.
In-unit costs
Students will be required to supply a USB drive (of 16GB or more) and a Class 10 SD card (of 16GB or more). These need not be new, but can be purchased for less than $10 each.
