Gerontological Alliance of Nurses Australia (GANA)

What is GANA?

Gana is a community organisation with members who are interested in providing high quality, evidence based and holistic care to older Australians.

Established in 2022, GANA enables access to gerontological nursing knowledge through a community of specialist gerontological nurses, webinars, podcasts and networking opportunities facilitating insightful discussions, and interactions with like-minded individuals, providing a platform for growth and collaboration.

GANA promotes gerontology as a unique nursing specialty that makes a crucial contribution to the health and well-being of older people in Australia. With an accessible membership, a commitment to improving aged care through research, policy and advocacy, GANA empowers nurses to make a real difference in the lives of older Australians.

Who is GANA for?

  • Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing
  • Nursing students seeking support in their gerontological nursing journey
  • Retired gerontological nurses

The Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG) are partnered with GANA to support membership administration processes and organise events.

Gerontological nursing is such a specialised field and GANA has such a great role in focusing on this vital nursing role that we need to recognise… GANA has taken this great initiative and I'm proud to be a member of GANA.
