Should we Abolish the Leviathan of the Police?

By Hannah Cornelia

Hobbes argues that we need the Leviathan of the state to stop “the war of all against allâ€‌. But some modern activists argue that we should abolish the police. I have engaged with these two political theories to conclude that the Leviathan is actually more harmful than beneficial to society, and abolition is likelier to achieve a safe, free and fair nation. In doing so, I hope to demystify this "radical" idea.

Furthermore, I think my essay is relevant to the 21st century, as around the world (particularly in America) calls for police abolition are growing in prevalence and urgency.
